“I’ll Kiss You Next Year” is a high-energy, bass-driven Christmas alt-rock/new wave song that celebrates the joy of past and future holidays when the present one isn’t turning out how we’d hoped. The Christmas songs we know and love don’t feel quite right in 2020, but everyone can relate to “I’ll Kiss You Next Year”.
The track was written and performed primarily by Tony Vitez, with Victor Reynolds contributing to production, background vocals, and synthesizers. Tony and Victor’s parts were recorded separately in an apartment in Santa Cruz, CA and a house in Greenville, SC in November 2020. Like TVVR’s previously released material, it was initially composed on bass. The idea for the song started simply with the title and developed from there.
